Arthur Alan Duncan Anderson was a Scottish footballer who played for Alloa Athletic, Falkirk, Millwall, Scunthorpe United, and Hearts as a centre half. During Scotland’s 1967 tour of Asia and Oceania, he appeared seven times for a Scotland XI, playing alongside Alex Ferguson. With Anderson at center-half, the Scotland XI won all of their games. The Scottish Football Association gave him a cap for the tour in 2020, then in October 2021, the SFA declared that five of the tour matches (all of which Anderson played in) had been classed as full internationals.
It is with great sadness that we have to advise of the death of Alan Anderson, one of the finest-ever servants of Heart of Midlothian Football Club.
Alan was a Hearts man through-and-through, and was proud to make over 500 appearances and captain the team that he loved.
