Hannes Adomeit was a German political scientist who specialized in foreign policy, security, and defense, as well as transatlantic perspectives in Europe. He worked at the Johns Hopkins University’s American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS), as a Bosch Public Policy Fellow at the Transatlantic Academy in Washington, D.C., and as a “Non-Resident Fellow” at the University of Kiel’s Institute for Security Politics (ISPK). He obtained his PhD from Columbia University in 1972 after studying at the Freie Universität Berlin. He worked for numerous British, German, Canadian, and US-American agencies, including the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, as a “soviet studies” expert. He taught at Tufts University, Harvard, and Warsaw’s College of Europe after 1989.
