In most sources, he is referred to as Joe Horlen or Joel Horlen. He was the only baseball player to have played for teams that won the Pony League World Series (1952), the College World Series (Oklahoma State, 1959), and the Major League World Series (Oakland-1972).
Former White Sox and A’s pitcher Joe Horlen has died. Up until Mark Buehrles perfect game, no white sox player had pitched a no-hitter since Joe. He was also instrumental for the players in the 1972 strike
