Mambalikalathil Sarada Menon was an Indian physician, social worker, and the founder of the Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF), a non-governmental organization based in Chennai that works to rehabilitate persons suffering from Schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. She was a former Madras Medical Service officer and India’s first female psychiatrist, receiving the Avvaiyyar Award. In 1992, the Indian government honored her with the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third highest civilian honor, for her contributions to society.
