Noah Gordon was an American novelist. Medical history and medical ethics are among the topics treated in his novels. Later in his career, he began to concentrate on topics such as the Inquisition and Jewish cultural history. Gordon’s debut novel, The Rabbi, was a New York Times Best Seller for 26 weeks in 1965. The Physician was taken up by Random House – Germany when it was published, and the book was pushed in Europe, where Gordon became quite successful in Spain and Italy. His novel The Last Jew was awarded the “Que Leer Prize” in Spain as well as the “Boccaccio Literary Prize” in Italy (Italy).
