Patrick Flanagan was an Irish Gaelic footballer and hurler who played for Mullingar Shamrocks, The Downs, and St Loman’s as well as the Westmeath senior teams at inter-county level. He frequently took the field as a defender. From 1970 to 2000, Flanagan was the county board’s PRO and a Leinster Council delegate. In his honor, the cup given to the victors of the Westmeath SFC is named after him.
