Melvin Douglas Lastman, also known as “Mayor Mel” or “Mega City Mel,” was a Canadian businessman and politician who served as the 3rd mayor of North York and the 62nd mayor of Toronto from 1998 to 2003. Following the 1998 amalgamation of Metro Toronto and its six constituent municipalities, he was the first person to serve as mayor of Toronto. Lastman is also the founder of the Bad Boy Furniture franchise.
